Itinerary: 18-Day Namibia Highlights Safari
You start your journey in the capital of Namibia, in Windhoek, to get rested after your flight. Next day your start your adventure in the red Kalahari region 250 km southeast of Windhoek. Afterwards you continue to the oldest desert in the world, the Namib Desert, and the high dunes of Sossusvlei.
After your desert experience you drive to the harbour town Walvis Bay and the popular coastal resort Swakopmund with a possibility for many various activities. Along the wild romantic Atlantic coast you now enter the rough, rocky and fascinating landscape of Damaraland, home of the desert-dwelling elephants and black rhinos.
The journey leads further north to the capital of Kaokoland, Opuwo, through rugged wilderness areas to the picturesque Epupa Falls, on the banks of the mighty Kunene River, bordering Angola. In this area you have many opportunities to see the local Himba and Herero tribes and to visit some villages.
Driving south again via Opuwo, you enter the western gate of the Etosha National Park where you will spend the night at the Dolomite Camp. The following days you can explore the park intensively during game drives. Experience free roaming African wildlife on your safari through Namibia’s most famous national park.
Pass Tsumeb & Otavi the journey continues to the historic Waterberg, where you can stay at the Waterberg Plateau or at one of the surrounding private farms.
On the last day you travel back southwards via Okahandja to Windhoek and enjoy the last night in the African nature near Windhoek.
